Connect the Dots: Give Northern Colorado a Warm Emboss

Help us secure a new braille embosser to serve our blind community

On March 6th, the braille embosser at Disabled Resource Services broke beyond repair. We rely heavily on this vital piece of equipment which is frequently used the DRS Vision Matters program to braille meeting notes, forms, legal documents, and resource guides for the blind community and braille readers throughout Northern Colorado. Because of this urgent need we have launched the Connect the Dots campaign to raise $5,000 to replace this equipment as soon as possible.

DRS has multiple clients who read braille to access important information. Additionally, the fact that they own the brailled media increases their inclusion in our community. Even with the rise in assistive technology, the use of braille embossers remains critical for many people with vision loss according to Jo Carroll, Vision Matters Independent Living Specialist at DRS.

“As we move into the technological era, it is more important than ever to cater to those who still practice this skill and keep the culture of braille alive,” Jo explains.

Because of this immense need, DRS has launched a fundraising campaign to secure a new braille embosser and continue our mission to serve every person with a disability.

You can help now by donating to our Connect the Dots campaign here.
