Helping Those In Need
In early October, Katrina found herself facing one of the most difficult times of her life. With an unexpected car repair that came up, Katrina was unable to cover that as well as her rent. After reaching out to several organizations and being denied the assistance she needed, she was overwhelmed with fear, stress, and uncertainty. Facing eviction and possible homelessness on only $1,846 per month from disability benefits, she couldn't see a way forward.
That’s when Katrina connected with Disabled Resource Services. She was quickly matched with a compassionate housing specialist who listened to her story and worked closely with her to find a solution. We were able to provide the $1,700 she needed to catch up on her rent, just in time to stop the eviction process and give her a chance to breathe again.
Together, we also worked with Katrina to set meaningful goals for her future. Since receiving support, she has remained stable and independent, no longer needing financial assistance. Her resilience is inspiring, and she credits DRS for helping her through a time when she felt truly alone.
At DRS, we are committed to making a difference for people with disabilities in our community. With your support, we are able to provide vital services, along with supporting folks like Katrina in times of financial distress. Your support directly helped keep Katrina housed.
In her own words:
“I was gratefully helped and saved from eviction. I recommend DRS to any disabled person.”
